We appreciate your patience as we’ve worked out plans to celebrate Sophia becoming a bat mitzvah.  You will find an explanation of our process as well as an outline of the plans on the pages of this site.

The impetus for the changes grew out of a gradual realization that we were not in the proper headspace to plan, much less to host, a simcha (celebration) during this very intense first year of mourning for both Adam's mother (Marilyn Weisberg who died on May 30, 2012) and Rachel's mother (Deborah Brodie who died on June 27, 2012).

Together with Sophia we’ve come up with a plan that takes into account the above and her wishes (to have the opportunity to lead tefilla (services), read from the torah, and give a drash (short teaching) during a Sunday Rosh Hodesh—New Moon/Month—service) and our desire to create a framework for the experience in order to maximize the potential for all of us to find meaning and feel joy in this awesome milestone.

Details and regular updates will appear on this website and we are happy to answer your questions as they come up…. We hope that you’ll be able to join us for one or more of these dates and that in spreading things out we’ll have more time to be with you when you are with us.

With gratitude and love,

Rachel and Adam
